Brady Bunten Named Freshman All-American

Collegiate Baseball Freshmen All-Americans

TUCSON, Ariz. – SIUE designated hitter Brady Bunten (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) has been selected as a Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.

A redshirt-freshman, after having his 2019 season cut short due to injury, before a pandemic-shortened 2020 season, Bunten led the Cougars with 13 home runs and 42 runs batted in. He was named to the All-Ohio Valley Conference second team last month.

He was fifth in the OVC in homers and tied for 10th in RBIs. His .606 slugging percentage ranked sixth in the OVC. His 13 home runs are tied for sixth most in a season all-time at SIUE and rank third in a single season in SIUE's Division I era (2009-present). His slugging percentage also is the third best in a season at the Division I level. Bunten added three triples to tie for fourth most in the league.

Bunten is the third SIUE player to be named a Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Freshman All-American following Devin Caldwell (2011) and Dustin Woodcock (2016).
